The municipal marina located in eastern Crete has completed a €1.9 million infrastructure project focused on energy efficiency, accessibility, and utility services. Managed by the local municipal corporation DAEAN and backed by the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility, the site now features new floating pontoons, upgraded water and power points, solar panels, electric vehicle charging stations, and dedicated access infrastructure for visitors with disabilities.
Alongside the physical overhaul, the facility officially secured its tourist port licence, resolving an administrative process that had been pending for over three decades. The completion of these works strengthens the operational connection between the port and the town centre, establishing a modernized hub designed to support regional economic growth and local tourism.
- Capacity: 250+ berths across floating and concrete pontoons
- Dry-docking capacity: 160+ boats
- Investment: €1.91 million ($2.2 million USD), funded via NextGenerationEU
- Equipment and upgrades: Travel lift, business centre, laundry, smart LED lighting system (41 units), solar power, EV charging stations
