SAIM and ZF: Launch of TotalUpgrade refit initiative for onboard propulsion controls

SAIM Marine and ZF Marine have introduced TotalUpgrade, a joint refit initiative designed to replace legacy propulsion control hardware across various boat categories. The programme allows boat owners and captains to swap out older control setups — including systems built by third-party manufacturers — for the ZF TotalCommand platform with integrated joystick control.

The package covers the complete replacement process, including the removal of legacy controls, installation of new hardware, updated user interfaces, and after-sales support provided through SAIM’s service network. Official launch is set for the Genoa International Boat Show, taking place 1–6 October 2026.

  • System architecture: ZF TotalCommand platform with integrated joystick control
  • Compatibility: Suitable for existing propulsion control systems, including non-ZF equipment
  • Scope: Removal of existing equipment, hardware replacement, interface updates, and installation by SAIM-approved technicians
  • Support network: Serviced through SAIM dealer and service centres
