AkzoNobel is introducing its International Micron 350 antifouling coating to the Asia-Pacific region in September 2026, following its deployment in European markets. The product targets severe biofouling conditions common in warm tropical and subtropical waters, preventing the accumulation of barnacles, algae, and slime while a boat remains stationary or underway.
Unlike traditional hard coatings, the self-polishing formula smooths continuously as it wears, reducing drag, maintaining hull efficiency, and preventing heavy paint build-up over successive applications. Designed for application up to 12 months prior to launch, the coating suits both professional yards and private boat owners across various hull materials.
- Protection duration: Up to 24 months
- Pre-launch window: Up to 12 months
- Application methods: 2–3 coats by brush or roller; airless spray for professional applicators
- Hull compatibility: GRP/FRP, steel, wood, cast iron, lead
- System primers: Interprotect, Primocon
- Color options: Black, blue
