The system utilizes an in-line layout with a planetary gearbox, achieving an efficiency rating of approximately 90% compared to traditional 60% worm gear designs. The marine-grade painted gearbox delivers motor power outputs of 2700W or 3000W across 24V and 48V electrical configurations, supporting modern shipyard shifts toward 48V onboard architectures to lower total current draw and reduce wiring weight.
The primary structural design advantage of the MILOS COAX is its co-axial setup, which streamlines deck space planning during vessel construction. Unlike traditional 90-degree tonnage systems that necessitate under-deck access for mounting and ongoing maintenance, this unit works alongside an optional counter-plate to enable complete installation and servicing directly from the exterior. This eliminates intrusive interior access requirements and simplifies routine maintenance protocols.
